As some mainstream, online newspapers begin to take on certain qualities of blogs, it will be interesting to see whether the websites for TV stations begin to take on some qualities of vlogs. Of course one of the main problems in trying to predict whether this situation will pan out or not is the fact that vlogs currently don’t have much in the way of standardized qualities for a TV station to copy or not. It’s so early in the time of the vlog that the practices that will become common haven’t really been determined yet - apart from anything a vlog has already inherited from the blogosphere.

That said, one thing we might see more of from mainstream news organizations, specifically TV stations, is the idea of the video editorial - a type of vlogalism (vlog journalism) that would seem naturally attractive to many. Of course editorials in video form from news organizations are nothing new. We see opinions all the time on cable TV especially. But where it might take off in a new way is from the local TV stations. Local TV stations, by and large, still do pretty much straight news. A vlog-like site from a local station could change that. It’s not hard to imagine the station’s TV personalities putting up a vlog on a certain subject and even viewers sending in their own vlogs in response to either a news story or a vlog from the station. As TV stations are already familiar with video and the technical aspects involved, it only makes sense that they could host vlogs more easily than most. TV stations that do it first and/or best could easily get a leg up in the highly competitive world of local TV news. Local TV news is all about community. Blogs, and by extension, vlogs, could easily be about community as well. Only makes sense.
